FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS K-9 TEAM LOACATES 7 SUSPECTS
As reported by the Warden of Apalachee Correctional Institution in the Department’s newsletter, three Correctional Officers and their K-9 named “Man” teamed up with local law enforcement to hunt for suspects in a home invasion incident. Within a few hours 7 suspects, all in their teens, were apprehended. “During the course of the 2007 calendar year and to date this year the ACI team has responded to a total of 127 calls and apprehended a total of 78 fleeing felons.” What a difference professional Correctional Officers make in helping to keep the public safe. But the K-9 team at ACI is not unique in the Florida Department of Corrections. Several other institutions have K-9 teams that have assisted law enforcement agencies when called upon. Hats-off to these brave professionals.
